Who, or What, is Only1Egg?

stranger_in_a_strange_landThis peculiar descriptive self concept has it’s origins in the sci-fi novel “Stranger In A Strange Land” by the great Robert A. Heinlein. Orphaned in a crash landing, protagonist Valentine Michael Smith is raised since infancy by mysterious native Martians. Upon returning to Earth many years later, the other worldly and naïve Smith is totally confused by the many contradictions encountered throughout human society. The story examines such concepts as non-traditional family structures, social libertarianism, even suggesting every religious path is but one of many possible perspectives upon a still deeper, unifying spiritual experience. Fairly radical thinking for way back when in the 1960’s!

Of the many ideas gleaned from this amazing novel, what resonated for me was the simple phrase “I am only an egg” essentially meaning “I am a lowly novice, barely able to understand the concepts in question…” From that moment on I realized only through genuine humility, by first accepting my own complete ignorance of reality, could I ever hope to comprehend myself, or find my way through this amazing, spiraling universe.

Subsequently, “Only1Egg@…” would become my first email address, so it wasn’t such a big leap to use it for this web domain too. The entire ‘Only1Egg’ concept has continuously morphed and evolved over the years, often determined by whatever books I’ve recently been reading, or result of some serendipitous encounter fate has kindly placed along my way.
