As such coincidences tend to happen, tonight I encountered this inspiring short story, written by Andy Wier who is perhaps better known these days as author of “The Martian”

“The Egg” was originally published in 2009 by Weir on his Galactanet website. Essentially, it’s the story of just two characters, one who is “you” (done in the second person), and the other being God, who is “me” (done in the first person). Upon awakening to the realization of a very sudden death by car accident, “You” and “God” share a brief conversation about mortal existence, and the true nature of the universe.
